Do you take insurance?

I am not paneled with insurance companies, however I do accept Health Savings Account (HSA) cards for payment. One of the reasons I choose not to work with insurance panels is because I do not believe that a third party should dictate your needs, the severity of your struggles, diagnosis, and treatment plan.

You can choose to submit a claim to your insurance if you have out of network coverage. Please be aware that if you choose to submit a claim through your insurance, I have no control over the confidentiality of your information once it is received by your insurance company. How long are sessions?

Typical therapy sessions are 50 minutes long, although longer times may be reserved if agreed upon in advance. I also offer the option for double sessions back to back for clients who want to dive deeper and see results even quicker. Sessions are by appointment only and are scheduled weekly or twice weekly. Therapy is about you, so we will collaborate together to decide what schedule will best support you.

How long will therapy take?

This is a difficult question to answer, though it is very reasonable to ask. The simplest answer is that it ends when you feel that you have completed the work you came to therapy to do. The decision is ultimately up to you, as everyone experiences therapy at their own pace. Completing therapy is a decision that we can work together to make with the understanding that you can come back at any time should you need more support in the future.

Do you offer virtual/online teletherapy sessions?

Yes, I am exclusively virtual and provide therapy to clients throughout the state of Florida.

What can I expect in my first session?

We will start where you are. I will prompt you with open-ended questions to understand together what you would like to achieve with therapy. I am not that blank slate therapist you see in the movies. I am here to listen, encourage and guide you along the way. We will work at your pace. You can feel safe to ask any questions that you have. We will create a plan of achievable goals and discuss together what success looks like to you. You will find that our work together will be direct, while free flowing and flexible at the same time. Our space is sacred and the opportunities for positive change are limitless. Many of my clients tell me that they feel that a weight has been lifted off of their shoulders after just a few sessions.

What are your specialties?

I specialize in Trauma, Birth Trauma, Motherhood, and Parenting. I began my career specializing in trauma and PTSD and continue to use the tools and skills of that expertise within my work with mothers as a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Therapist. My passion for working with moms was ignited through my own motherhood journey, as I knew I needed to become the support for others that I struggled to find. I am trained in EMDR, an evidenced based treatment for trauma. I also have training in CBT, Mindfulness, and Inner Child Healing/ Ego State Intervention. To learn more about treatment modalities, click here

Do you work with couples?

Yes, I work with couples who are facing issues specifically related to parenting. Adjusting to a new baby can have a profound impact on the parents’ relationship such as role changes, sexuality issues, and limited time together. We can work together to open up lines of communication in a manner that feels safe for each of you, with the goal of learning about triggers and road-blocks so that you can overcome them as a team.

Do you work with men?

Yes, I work with men who are specifically struggling with adjustment to fatherhood and parenting. It is normal for dad’s to struggle as well with depression and anxiety symptoms following the birth of a new baby. Dad’s often face issues related to societal pressure and gender norms, identity shifts and feeling added financial pressures. Together we can help you embrace your new role as a dad.

Do you work with infertility?

Yes, fertility struggles plays an important role in mental health and parenthood, as 1 in 10 couples experience primary or secondary infertility. Struggling with infertility can bring about stress, grief, existential identity issues related to masculinity/femininity, feeling like your body failed you, fear of miscarriage/pregnancy loss, feeling like your road to parenthood has become highly medicalized, struggles within your relationship and so much more. Many women who face infertility often feel even more guilty for having issues with adjustment to motherhood because they put added pressure on themselves to “just be grateful they got their baby.” Therapy can give you the support you need to endure your infertility journey at any stage of the process.

Do you work with pregnant women?

Yes, pregnancy and pre-pregnancy decision making are times of transition where therapeutic support can be quite beneficial. It is normal to feel preoccupied with thoughts about pregnancy and your future baby during this time. Thinking about growing your family and having life forming inside your body can trigger anticipation, fear, anxiety, overwhelm, body image issues, feeling like your body is no longer yours, difficulty coping with nausea and physical discomfort, etc. Women may also worry about how they will prioritize balancing their career aspirations with family life, how to avoid mistakes their parents made, and how to strengthen their marriage proactively in preparation for a baby. Regardless of what phase you are in, we can work together to help you clarify your vision for growing your family and support you through your pregnancy journey so that you feel empowered and prepared.

What is something about you that most people don’t know?

I love musicals and secretly dream of my life having a soundtrack for each phase in order to better tell it’s story. I have found music to be a fun addition to the therapeutic conversation as well, as songs often help put emotions into words and can offer validation and a reminder that you are not alone.

What else does a client need to know to make the most out of working with you?

I am human, imperfect and pride myself on being authentic. I am genuinely passionate about the clients I help and love the work that I do. Outside of work, I spend countless hours on personal development work and strengthening my own life so that I can best support you with yours. I also find my children to be my greatest teachers, learning from them as they explore the wonders of the world that as adults we tend to take for granted. They have inspired my passion for helping mothers on their parenting journey. I can’t wait to work with you.
